Chapter Thirty-Two

Hours later, pale light was coming through the canvas walls of Sal's tent, but that wasn't what woke her. It was Jase's teeth teasing her shoulder and his arm around her back pulling her against his chest. She sucked in a breath, and his lips moved higher, finding her neck. That got a moan.

With a sleepy chuckle, he tugged her over, encouraging her to face him. Then one hand trailed down to her thigh, following the line of her body to get there. As their eyes met, he lifted her leg over his hip, and hardness pressed into her belly. "Good mornin', kitten," he whispered.

"Mm," she agreed. "I think it's about to be."

A little smile touched his lips before he shifted lower. She could feel him sliding against her, easing into place. Then he pulled her onto him and entered her body. She sucked in a breath, closing her eyes to focus on just feeling him. Everything about him. Slowly, almost lazily, Jase rolled his hips, curling his back as the two of them flexed side by side. The sheets rustled as they writhed, and his lips returned to her neck.

The rush of battle was long gone, having been satiated in the night. This was different. This was just between them, a moment to remember that not everything had to be intense to feel good. The scent of blood and sweat still lingered in the room. As Sal clung to his shoulders, she could feel the marks she'd made the night before, and yet this was so different. Maybe even better.

The friction built, and she leaned her head back, her hair tangling against the pillow. Jase's lips moved up her jaw, to that spot beneath her ear, his excited breaths tickling the sensitive skin. Her calf pressed into his ass, holding him close, and his arms clenched around her back. Like this, they were one. For just a moment, the sound of people outside her tent, the impending battle, and her plans to leave were all just a distant memory. Here, it was just them – and it felt so good.

The hint of a moan caught in the back of her throat, and she felt him smile against her face. "Shh," he reminded her. "They can hear."

"I don't care."

So he buried himself deeper on the next thrust. Sal's back arched, pressing her breasts into his chest. Jase gasped before doing it again, and then -

"Kaisae?" a man called outside the tent.

Don't stop, Sal thought.

He didn't, but Jase smothered his face against her neck. Unfortunately, silence wasn't what the soldier wanted. "Sal!" She recognized Dag's voice.

"Go away," Jase growled.

Unfortunately, the soldier took that as permission. Light brightened in the room as the flap opened, Jase froze, and Sal shoved her mouth into his shoulder to smother a giggle. Relaxing his arm, her Ahnor tilted his head up to look at the man who seemed to have no clue what was happening under the covers right in front of him.
