CHAPTER 6

Lyric

One minute I was standing in the middle of my reception under the hungry eyes of powerful alphas, and the next I was being hauled over my mate’s shoulder as he pushed past the crowd and out of the room. His growls as he kept the other alphas away were reverberating through his body and into my core, causing me to get even hornier. Which was insane with how horny I already felt.

This close to Orion, his scent was engulfing me, making it nearly impossible to push off my heat. I was going into heat. It was still hard to wrap my brain around it, but as I humped my mate’s arm, it was hard to deny. I felt a sharp sting to my ass, and I turned my head, indignant.

My mate was smiling unapologetically at me. “None of that yet, kitten. Let me get you to our room first.”

I groaned and tried to relax into his hold. Truth was, I didn’t mind the slap. Now or the ones from earlier. I kind of liked it, actually, and debated humping him just so it would happen again. I refrained though. I didn’t know my alpha enough yet to know how much I could play around without truly angering him.

I didn’t even pay attention to where we were going or who was around us. There was no point. Orion would take me where he wanted me, and I was fine with that.

I heard some commotion around us, but I focused solely on the wide expanse of my husband’s back. His back was so wide. Why was it so wide? Was that really necessary?

“You’re so big. It’s kind of ridiculous.” The words were out of my mouth before I even realized it. Did I really just say that out loud? Orion just chuckled deeply.

“I am an alpha, kitten. It happens. Besides, I’m pretty sure you’re a little lust drunk.”

We were walking up stairs now. Orion was taking them two at a time and I kept bouncing ungracefully against his hard back every time.

“I can walk.” I grumbled.

Orion pinched my thigh. “I know.” Of course he didn’t put my down, and I resigned myself to being carried like a sack of potatoes. My face was close to his ass though, so I could at least enjoy the view. And maybe get a touch? It was so round and inviting. He wouldn’t mind right? I was his husband, and he already had his fingers up mine. A little grab wouldn’t hurt.

Four rapid fire slaps came to my left ass cheek before I barely got my hands on Orion. And then another four to my right.

“Don’t even think about it, little omega. Keep those hands to yourself.”

I pouted into his back. “But you get to touch mine however you want? How is that fair?”

Orion laughed. “It’s not. But remember who’s in control here, kitten. It’s not you.”

I whined and grumbled under my breath. Orion finally stopped walking upstairs and now I was staring at a patterned carpet in a hallway.
