Chapter 9: “Food for thought”

IN THE SERENE EMBRACE of my parents’ vacant room, I delved into the labyrinth of my own mind. This introspective odyssey unfolded as the intricate tapestry of my thoughts manifested, carving the unseen corridors of my inner world.

How frequently do our thoughts forge the barriers that bind us?

Amidst the silent musings, a friend extended an invitation to partake in the vibrant atmosphere of the Avenue – a social hub pulsating with life. The invitation prompted a dance of conflicting emotions within me, as I grappled with the question of venturing beyond the confines of my own contemplative haven.

He entered the room with a contagious enthusiasm, “Hey bro, how are you doing?” His eyes sparkled with excitement, eager to share the plans for the evening. I, on the other hand, lay there, lost in the tangle of my thoughts, hesitant about stepping into a world where every gaze felt like judgment.

My friend pressed on, “We’re heading to the Avenue, are you coming?” I hesitated, feeling the weight of a thousand unseen eyes on me. “No, bro, I’m not going,” I responded. The unspoken fear of judgment clung to my decision, as I believed the entire world would scrutinize my every move.
