Before he could attack, I brought the stone axe down on his left arm. The armor snapped off and the left arm, along with the sword, flew into the air. With both arms gone, he couldn’t wield a weapon against me.

Any other enemy would’ve given up in that state, but the Nameless Knight let out a great bellow, and the eyes inside his armor flared red. Drawing near death must have snapped his restraints. However, I wasn’t about to give him another shot at me!

“Now it’s over.”

I tossed the stone axe aside, snatched the knight’s sword from mid-air with both hands, and raised it overhead. There was no time to use Appraisal, but I could tell how powerful it was from its previous wielder. The Yumemi Short Sword and the stone axe couldn’t compare to the shocking power that flowed from the sword and into me.

My strength was about to reach a whole new level.

The Nameless Knight abandoned all reason, operated solely on instinct, and launched itself at me with a roar.

I roared back.

The rest was over in a flash. I swung the sword straight down in a simple, direct attack. That simplicity allowed me to pour every ounce of my new potential into one blow.

The Nameless Knight split into two pieces. He fell, and the only one left standing was me, with his sword in my hands.

As I stabbed the ground with the sword and used it like a cane to support my weary body, I gave the snuffed out enemy my parting words.

“You are by far the greatest enemy I’ve ever encountered, Nameless Knight.”
