Chapter Eight

The sun filtered in through the floor to ceiling windows along the living room wall. Troy blinked awake. The sun washed everything in a dreamy amber and dust motes floated lazily in the air.

Troy glanced down. Blake’s arm was still clamped firmly around his waist. Troy smiled, enjoying the warmth of skin on skin. He rolled over so that he was on his stomach, careful not to dislodge Blake’s arm.

He took in Blake’s sleeping face. The lion was calm in the early morning light, all traces of ferocity washed away from his muscles. Here, in this dreamy moment between realities, Blake looked as young as he did the day Troy met him.

Troy reached out and traced his fingers over Blake’s lips, marveling at their softness. The idea that anything on Blake could be this soft still baffled him, and yet, here they were. Troy’s fingers traced down the muscles of Blake’s neck, over his shoulder, to the fading red bite mark.

Troy smiled and reached up for his own, a blazing mark of ownership where his neck met his collarbone. The bite mark that told everyone they were mates. They were mates.

A ripple of guilt traveled through Troy when he thought of Kylie. Still, she would understand, she had to. And once Kylie was okay, and Troy was with Blake, everything would be okay.

Blake opened an eye and groaned. Troy laughed.

“It’s good to see you, too.”

Blake let out another groan and tightened his grip on Troy. Troy cried out in protest as Blake pulled him flat against the lion’s chest.

“Don’t manhandle me, you big lug,” Troy said, his voice half muffled by Blake’s chest.

Blake opened his eyes again and grinned. It was a mischievous grin that Troy read too late. He opened his mouth to protest, but Blake was already moving.

Blake rolled over, pushing Troy against the pillows, and slipped his knee in-between Troy’s thighs.

“Good morning,” Blake said, leaning forward to kiss Troy. His voice was husky with sleep.

Troy kissed Blake, their lips slotting together like they were made for each other. Troy ran his hands up Blake’s back, dragging his nails over the muscles that strained beneath his smooth skin. Blake made a low noise in his throat almost like a purr and Troy smiled against his lips.

Blake swept his tongue against Troy’s bottom lip, asking for permission to deepen the kiss. Troy parted his lips in an answer and their tongues moved against each other, stroking and dancing to music only they heard.

Blake pulled back for a breath and grinned down at Troy. Troy could feel Blake’s length pressing against his thigh. His own cock twitched with desire.

“What are you doing later today?” Blake asked as he peppered Troy’s collarbone with kisses.

Troy bit his lip as Blake’s tongue darted out to lick his heated flesh.

“Mmm,” said Troy in an early morning love haze, “are you trying to ask me on a date?”

Blake was working his way down Troy’s body. Troy was fully hard now, and he rocked his hips against Blake’s.
