Afternoon relaxation

This is your time to do whatever you fancy doing. You can just chill and listen to music. You can read, meditate if you want to, go out for another walk or just lie on the sofa and watch a light movie.

I have included a couple of exercises you might like to try out this afternoon. But as I've said, this is your time to do exactly what you want to do. So do nothing if that's what you feel like doing.

If the weather's good, though, I do recommend that you try and get out again into the sunlight, even if it's only for a short walk. Contrary to what we're told, sunlight is actually very good for you and your endocrine system. Every gland in your body will benefit from a little natural light every day. Sunlight also produces vitamin D, which is needed by our bones to absorb calcium.

The more daylight you get the more serotonin is produced and the more serotonin is produced, the more melatonin will be released during the night: so you'll sleep better and deeper. If it's the height of summer, obviously avoid sunbathing between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. But in the winter, these are the best hours to catch some rays to avoid seasonal affective disorder and to produce serotonin. Take your sunglasses off in the winter so the light gets into your cells.

So if you can, go out for another 20 minutes, even if it's just to sit on a park bench with your face in the sun.
