Chapter Five
There was no way I could escape this. If I had refused to enter the car, he would have probably threatened me with the weapon inside his glove compartment. The one he has already shown off twice. He’s probably just making sure it’s still there. As if it could go anywhere by itself.
Jimmy and I are both in the backseat. We are not tied up or anything, but she is holding John’s life in her hands. Or so she says. I hope she’s bluffing, but we can’t take that risk.
The guy is taking us through old roads that are in such adverse conditions that I can tell are no longer used by anyone. That also explains why not even one car has passed by us. He has also smoked about five cigarettes in the few minutes that we are driving. It’s like he’s eating them or something. Since it’s raining outside, the windows are closed, and all the smoke is lingering inside the car.
In the distance, I can see a plain field with an old mansion in the middle. It is a wide-open space, but it’s very remote and far from the city. We’re in the countryside now. The driver starts to go in the direction of the house.
It’s an incredibly old home. The paint on the walls is coming off and the windows are all shattered. There’s no sign of any humans living here, so I’m guessing that this is just a temporary location that they have brought us to.
From inside the house, comes Tara. She is different. She is still wearing a very fashionable outfit, but more sensual. It is a red dress that sits just below her shoulders and lets her showoff one leg. She looks gorgeous! She is also wearing luxury jewelry and some better makeup. Her hair is all flat and seems longer to me. It’s like she is a different person.
The driver gets us out of the car, and we face her in the rain. She, on the other hand, was holding a translucent umbrella.
“Welcome.” She greets us with a smile.
She then goes ahead and enters the house, while the guy who just drove us here leaves in the car. I guess that we are going to be alone with her in a creepy old house.
As we enter the house, I realize that I was wrong. She’s not alone, as there are two more guys holding guns inside and there’s someone tied up on the floor. It’s John. She wasn’t bluffing at all earlier.
Jimmy immediately runs to his father and starts crying. The two security guys remove him and force him to face Tara, just by my side. John is laying on the floor, with his mouth covered in tape and his hands and feet tied. I can see by his eyes that he is crying too. We can hear him mumble, but he can’t even move his mouth enough to speak.
“What do you want?” Jimmy asks Tara.
Tara smiles and hands him a phone, just like the one we found in the cabin.
