I took my time with the tea, and when I couldn’t put it off any longer without drawing suspicion, I headed back upstairs. When I entered the bedroom, Cameron was propped up against the headboard, tapping his phone.

“Hey.”

Cameron looked up, smiling when he saw me. He put his phone face down on the bedside table and I climbed onto the bed.

“Getting a little work in?” I said, indicating the phone. Damn it, Corey’s comment popped back up in my mind and the insecurity right along with it. How could I expect Cameron to be honest with me when I didn’t extend him the same courtesy?

“Just checking Facebook,” Cameron said and stroked my leg, parting the robe.

“Anything good?”

“Donn took a personality test and apparently he’s destined to be the next Albert Einstein. Oh, and Lucy sent us both a sheep for our farms.”

I chuckled and leaned my head against his shoulder. Then I sobered. I had to tell him, or it would forever weigh on me.

“Listen… I need to tell you something.”

Cameron stroked my inner thigh. “Mel already did. And I’m definitely up for it.”

I looked over and noted that he sure was, if the tented sheet was any indication.

“Not that. And I definitely want to get to that as soon as possible. I just need to tell you something first. I don’t want there to be any secrets between us.”

Cam’s hand stilled on my leg. “What is it?”

I took a deep breath before continuing, and once I started speaking, I couldn’t stop until I’d spilled every last bean. Once I had finished, I waited breathlessly for Cam to say something until I had to prod him.

“Please say something.”

Cam ran a hand through his hair and let out a breath of frustration. “I’m trying really hard to keep my cool right now. Cops don’t do well in prison and I really want to put my fist through that guy’s face.”

“I’m so sorry, Cam… I should have told you straight away, but-“

“Babe,” he cut me off, “I’m not angry with you. I’m worried you didn’t feel like you could talk to me. And I’m pissed he harassed you like that.”

“What about Tanya?” I asked, biting my lip.

“She called me at work, after I’d sent that text to Corey. She suggested we meet up some time, but I told her no. No room for interpretation. I didn’t tell you because it didn’t seem like it would do either one of us any good, but you’re right. Complete honesty is the only way to move forward.”

My chest felt like it was bursting at the seams and I had to kiss him. “I love you so much, Cam. You’re everything to me, and you’re all I need.”

“I don’t know about that,” he said and tugged on my robe. “I think you need something more. At least for tonight.”

As soon as my skin was bared, Cameron kissed every exposed area and made me moan. I closed my eyes as he cupped both breasts with his warm
