Chapter 11

The next morning came with a phone call that sounded like alarm bells through the house.

Jake groaned, rolled over in his bed and answered with a grumble.

“Uh, I take it I woke you up?” a voice said, not waiting to greet them.

“Morning Suzie,” he huffed.

Suzie was Vicky’s mother.

“Have you seen the news? Well, of course, you haven’t. I have just woken you up and you don’t have the television on in your bedroom because you were sleeping,” she rambled.

“Slow down, and tell me what’s going on.”

“It’s all over the news,” Suzie repeated. “They’re saying that they suspect that the few people who weren’t killed were somehow colluding with Storm, and that she was a cold-blooded killer. I don’t understand what is happening,”

“Have you heard from her?” Jake frowned. He sat up in his bed, and looked to his left where his wife was still sleeping.

“No. Thank goodness. What about you?”

“Nothing. I’ve heard from almost everyone else this week, but nothing from her. What happened?”

He sighed. Where would he even begin?

“She killed a load of people, Suzie. She got laughed at, and she just... turned.”

“Someone laughed? But, that doesn’t tell me about who this Storm woman is?”

“Yeah. Storm is another one of Vicky’s personalities. She came out after she got laughed at during the reunion.”

“I thought Delia was supposed to have her back? What happened?”

“Unfortunately, Delia happened.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Delia is the one that laughed at her and made her switch to this new person.”

“Ooh.”

“And Storm came out?”

“Yea. And killed a lot of people.”

“Shit. OK. Are you all OK though? Are you all safe?”

“Safe as we can be, with a possible target on our backs. She was out of control.”

“Yes. It sounds like it.”

“Have you told the cops?”

“No. Not yet. We’re talking about it before we do anything with the plan.”

“All right. Well, I am going to try and get hold of her. Maybe I can get her to turn herself in...”

“That would be great. Maybe she has calmed down. But, I don’t think she will be ready to see us yet.”

“True...true. Alright. I’ll let you know.”

The only thing she could think to do is to find a way to get one of the cops to talk. That alone would be difficult. They are never alone. Unless they aren’t working. Storm glanced in her reflection and tidied her hair before pausing. A slight expression caught her eye.

“I know that look. Amelia?” she frowned. “When did you get back?”

About half an hour ago. Vicky has taken a nap.

Storm sighed. Good thing too. What she was planning to do, would definitely not be approved.

So, what’s the plan?

“We’re going to try and cause a distraction, leave the cop for dead. Let the police try and find him whilst I get out of the way.”

And then what?

“And then, we’ll slip away until things quieten down before I show my face.”

She had heard many things about Amelia. Though, she wasn’t sure how much of the gossip was true.

“How come you don’t come out very often?”

Because I tend to make things.
