Chapter 17
A gha and Azna along with the rest of the cavemen stayed back as Bhu took Rudra further into the cave to show him the access to that deeper cavern. They crossed the icy crystalline intermesh that kept getting denser. They leaped over the shallow tubular ice and ducked beneath the recess of other bulkier ones. After walking zigzag through it for a while Rudra directed his flashlight against the opposing cave wall ahead. He saw a hollow, dark and chilling opening at the other end of the cave. It looked like an ovoid, deep-black hollow within the crystalline blue ice. He only wished that it better not be the one he has to transverse but his short lived perplexity was soon vanquished by what his ears heard.
“That void marks the entry into that cavern.” Bhu pointed towards the same hollow. “I cannot accompany you anymore. I must stay here and pray the almighty to give you courage and strength. Please make sure you move out of that cave as soon as possible because the more you stay within it, the more difficult it will become to defeat your own sinister brain. I know it will be difficult but whatever it takes, just keep moving till you hold that stone.”
“Thanks for your advice Bhu. Now you must wait here and I will make sure I come out of that dark abyss as soon as possible.” Rudra began to tread towards it.
Bhu kept looking at Rudra till he could no longer see him as he entered into that creepy cavern.
The cave was formed of brownish stones and thus appeared hollow within that translucent ice. The silence within was so intense that he was able to hear his pulsating veins. He moved ahead, the cave took a hairpin bend towards the left and the inclination of that slope increased gradually. He dashed through the slant. As he reached near its end he heard trickling. Did I just hear water trickling? But how is it possible? He thought. The temperature within that deeper cavern was even lower than the upper cave.
As suggested, he didn’t stop to trace those trickling drops. All of a sudden a stream of water rushed into the cave. The sound of water froze his descending steps. He sensed water flowing around his feet. He lowered his head and saw a niggling stream flowing down the cave. He turned to look back. He heard a mammoth wave entering the cave. Within seconds he saw the gush of glacial flood turning with the hairpin bend and charging forth to drown him. His eyes widened in shock to see the disaster, his neck veins puffed up and head shivered in fear. He didn’t take another second to realize that he was hallucinating. The moment he entered the cave a quick thought fanned across, what will happen if this ice melts. A flood can drown us within this abandoned cave forever.
He knew that the stone was using his brain to play tricks. He stood there facing that violent wave.
