Cap + Killian

Cap: I think I owe you an apology.

Killian: No, you don’t.

Cap: I was an asshole the other night.

Killian: So was I.

Cap: Yours was justified.

Killian: Yours was too, Cap. Nothing about anything you all are going through is easy. I know you carry around so much damn guilt. And even though the people who love you are begging you to let it go, you won’t. You have to forgive yourself first.

Cap: How’d a BMX bum get so smart?

Killian: Trial, and a lot of error. Plus, it’s easier to assess a situation from the outside looking in.

Cap: You aren’t on the outside, man. You’re smack dab in the middle of all this. You’re Bent’s sounding board, you’re Caroline’s messenger, you’re my annoying mirror. And Jilly… Well, you tell me what you are to our girl.

Killian: I’m her friend.

Cap: Is that still all it is?

Killian: No lines crossed. Blurred a bit, but not crossed. It’s my current mantra.

Cap: What about tomorrow’s mantra?

Killian: No one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Cap: You want her?

Killian: Yes.

Cap: She want you?

Killian: Yes.

Cap: Life’s short, man. Although, she’s too young for you.

Killian: Life is incredibly short. Seems like you should take some of your own advice.

Cap: Probably. But we’re talking about you and Jilly right now.

Killian: Weren’t you the one who was afraid I was taking advantage of a grieving girl? I don’t care she’s six years younger than me. But she’s got her whole life ahead of her, and she doesn’t even know what she wants out of it yet. If I’m going to go there with her, I have to know she’s thought it through, and that she’s whole and healthy and ready for me.

Cap: She endgame for you?

Killian: After the way we met, after the things we’ve gone through together over this damn phone—I can’t mess this up. We get one shot at this, at being more than what we already are, and I refuse to waste it because she’s horny.

Cap: I sort of wish I didn’t know that about Dicer’s little sister. But I’m happy to know how much she means to you, and how seriously you’re taking all this. Tell me though, what happens when she gets tired of waiting on you and goes out to find Thurston 2.0 to scratch an itch?

Killian: Then I’ll know she’s still not ready.

Cap: What about you? You scratching any itches on the road?

Killian: You four keep me plenty busy. No time for anything else besides work and handing you your asses.

Cap: Funny. But not a straight answer.

Killian: I haven’t been with anyone in a few months, and I don’t plan to be with anyone until I can make it back to Texas and figure this whole thing out.

Cap: I don’t hate you.

Killian: Thanks, man.
