THE location and timing were far from good, but Ice couldn’t stop himself from kissing Raphael. Their brush with danger had fired up his primal instincts, and now he wanted nothing more than to savor life and the young man who’d become far more than a client to him.

He needed to feel Raphael’s lips beneath his own mouth, wanted to feel the prince yield himself to far more, but there were dangers to such deep distraction. Dangers that could rear up and savage them at any second.

Of all the places Johnson could have taken them, Ice would have chosen Brogan’s World last. He’d have preferred going back to Alleven regardless of the ongoing manhunt and the danger it represented for Raphael. Ice knew if they returned to Alleven they’d be able to find aid, though whether that aid would help Raphael regain what he’d lost was a gamble.

A gamble he’d prefer to avoid taking as long as they could. He knew at some point in time Raphael would return to Alleven, unless he could be persuaded to give up the fight to retain the throne of his father, an event Ice felt unlikely to occur. The prince wanted his revenge, and Ice suspected nothing and no one would dissuade Raphael from his chosen course.

Raphael pulled away and gazed into his eyes as if searching for something in their depths.

“What’s wrong?”

“I was about to ask you that, Ice. You were kissing me, but it’s as if you weren’t there.”

“Sorry. I started thinking about things.”

“Things? What things?”

Ice shook his head. “It’s nothing.”

Raphael’s hand caressed his cheek. The stubble of beard growing there made a soft scratching sound as the prince’s nails touched it. Raphael followed the arches and whorls of the bright tattoos on Ice’s face, his gaze showing his fascination with the metallic gleam of the slightly raised areas. “It’s this place, isn’t it?”

“The place, the situation, yes. All of it.”

“All? By all do you also mean being in service to me?”

Ice gave Raphael a little smile, a slight shake of his head. “Not that. That I don’t regret one bit.”

“Not even because it brought you here?”

“Not even because of that. I don’t regret even one second of my time with you. I do wish for a better place in which to find our pleasure together.”

“As do I. But it’s only for a few days.”

“Yes, a few days.” He touched his lips to Raphael’s. “So let’s make the best of it, all right?”

“Agreed.” Without another word, Raphael stripped off the almost nonexistent garments and tossed them onto the nearby table as Ice removed his own far more complicated gear.

With that done, he gazed down at Raphael.

Their lips met, Raphael’s parting to allow Ice’s tongue to enter his mouth.

He touched the hard bar of Raphael’s desire, saw and felt the shudder that passed though the younger man as his hand enfolded the sensitive flesh. A soft cry slipped from Raphael’s parted lips and Ice smiled. The sound was a pleasing encouragement that urged him to do more.
