Ameer Baghdadi met Alexandra Dahl in the philosophy class heâd taken during his studies at Leeds University. In a way, Alexandra was the real reason he kept coming to classes. He was not much into school anymore. He had been appointed team leader in the cyber company, where he worked around the clock, and the academy seemed more and more like a distant dream. There werenât enough hours in the day to do everything he desired, and he started feeling lonely. All his friends were in relationships while he was in a deep affair with his computer.
Ameer Baghdadi was a handsome man. He was 5â8â tall, had a slim figure, and dark skin. His green eyes glistened under his black hair. Still, he never thought girls would be interested in him. He started noticing the smiles they sent him regularly around campus. Ameer Baghdadi realized that he could leave the loneliness behind him and find a partner for life. In the beginning, he looked for a Muslim woman, like him, for a relationship that would quickly lead to marriage. But he soon realized that religion and being Arabic are no longer part of his identity and that heâd be better off finding someone who would like to hang out with him before they agree to get married.
But the years passed, and the overload of work and studies kept him single. It might have gone on this way if Alexandra Dahl did not walk into the first philosophy class accompanied by her friend. For a moment, their eyes met, and she smiled an embarrassed smile and nodded her head. Ever since then, he could not take his eyes off her. Alexandra was not the prettiest girl he had ever seen. Although she had bright-colored hair and blue eyes, she was too skinny and fair-skinned for his taste. But something about the way she looked at him captivated him, and he was smitten. He thought she noticed him too, but she sat far away from him and was busy in her own world.
Ameer did not know how to approach her. He had never done anything like this before, and he had no friend to help him overcome the embarrassment. Eventually, being a wise, organized man, Ameer developed a strategy to charm the young lady. He waited all four months of the semester, and by the end of it, posted in class a study group that he would run for the upcoming exam. He left his email address and asked to personally schedule a meeting with him. Alexandra did not send him an email, but her friend did. In the last philosophy class, Ameer patiently waited for Alexandra to take her seat, then came in and sat by her. He was quiet throughout the entire lesson, and when it ended, he asked Alexandraâs friend, Suzanne, if he is going to see her in the study group. Suzanne said she is eager for it: âI have no idea how Iâm going to pass this test, and our Alexandra isnât willing to help her poor friend.
