A Foggy Day

Julian stood in the cavernous main concourse of 30th Street Station, marveling at the towering limestone columns and the ornate, coffered ceiling that had to be at least a hundred feet above his head. At Lela’s suggestion, he’d gone to the currency exchange and purchased some cash for London in case he needed it. He had a small carry-on bag of toiletries and a change of clothes. Now, he could hear people’s voices echoing as they scurried to and from their respective trains. He glanced around for any sign of someone coming toward him, the mysterious person who would be meeting him. The uncertainty of it all was disorienting. He realized he probably wouldn’t be too difficult to spot with his white gloves on. Just then, his cell phone buzzed with a text. He pulled it out of his pocket to see who it was. It looked like it was from a foreign phone number. He brought up the message.
