The best guidance we receive
is from within.
Let your own spontaneous creativity take it from there….
Summon the spirit of anyone you wish….
Imagine him/her/it in front of you….
Call them forth in your mind’s eye….
And you will be in their Presence….
It’s always for the highest good of all….
And all we need to do to keep making sure of that is to keep repeating the words:
This is for the highest good of all.
So be it. So it is.
Remembering
We do a form of summoning all the time — we call it remembering. If it’s someone we love, it has one effect on us. If it’s someone we’re having a problem with, it has another effect.
Remembering is a wonderful, simple, powerful practice when done consciously rather than unconsciously. What teachers have you had, what people have you met, who have an energy that comes from being at a higher level of consciousness? By remembering them, you can draw into their Presence, and move into a higher level of consciousness.
I’ll never forget my Zen teacher, Katsuki Sekida. Every time I think of him, a smile comes to my face — I remember the grace, ease, and lightness of his presence, and I relax and enjoy the moment. His presence merges with my presence, and I become much lighter.
(I still study his book, Two Zen Classics, with his commentaries on the koans, the short teaching stories of various Zen masters over the years. The koan I’ve been pondering for many months now is this: The master asks, How can you be free from life and death? Katsuki Sekida’s entire commentary: How can you be free from life and death? Don’t worry about it.)
In the past decade, I’ve been informally summoning the spirit of Eckhart Tolle as well. It’s exactly as it is when I think of my Zen teacher: As I remember the playfulness, the understanding and love in his face, a smile comes to my face, and I relax and enjoy the moment.
Sometimes a quote from him will come along:
