Lina shared an aircraft with Clark on her trip back to headquarters. While her escort mission was already complete, arranging a separate flight back to the mainland was considered an unnecessary use of resources. This gave Lina no choice but to accompany Clark back to Washington D.C.

“Thank you for your service today, Major Sirius,” he greeted.

“Not a problem,” Lina answered a little coldly. She didn’t want to speak to anyone right now. In fact, she wanted nothing more than to get out of her “clown suit” and fall into a dreamless sleep. It took all her strength to keep the frustration out of her voice. Perhaps it was Clark’s young age, but he paid no mind to Lina’s behavior.

“I probably don’t need to tell you this, but please keep Taurus Silver’s identity to yourself,” he continued. “Colonel Walker and Colonel Balance do not know about it.”

“I have a duty to report back to my superiors,” Lina said freely.

“That’s all right,” Clark reassured her. “I promise you won’t face any consequences for omitting a few details.”

He was not military personnel. In fact, he was merely an NSA technician. He didn’t have the authority to intervene in military rewards or punishments. Just before Lina could mention this, Clark spoke first.

“If you reveal Taurus Silver’s true identity,” he warned, “he might decide to expose your identity as well.”

Lina was speechless for a moment.

“How do you know about that?” she gasped.

“Allowing you to make contact with Silver at all was a failure on the part of the military,” Clark asserted. “You’re still young; it’s understandable you might let your emotions get the better of you.”

Lina was shocked. Clark was insinuating he knew more about her activities in Japan than the military did.

“Oh, that’s right,” he added furtively. “I’d appreciate it if you avoided reporting about the truth of the Enterprise as well.”

With that, he effectively sealed Lina’s lips.
