Chapter 5

Chandler sat in his chair sipping his liquor with a smile. He was in a large room with large shelves that held different items and some books. The leather chair he sat in was leaned back as he posted his feet on his desk paying attention to the TV in front of him.

“Excuse me sir, you have a visitor,” his maid spoke, pushing through his old Oak door.

Chandler didn’t hear her, what was playing on the TV was more important. She gets closer laying her hand on his shoulder. He jumped up meeting the visitor eye to eye.

“How do you do?” He stated greeting the visitor. “Thank you Lori, can you refresh my drinks please?”

She hurried off closing the door behind the visitor.

“Have a seat,” he said and offered the couch next to him.

The lady visitor sat down crossing her legs. She wore a tan dress that complemented her light skin stone. Easing her jacket off, she flicked her hair to the side laying her jacket over the back of the couch. Opening the clutch purse she carried, she pulled out a yellow envelope dropping it on her lap. “Are things going well?” She asked.

“As we expected,” he responded focusing on her lap. “Did you get what I asked for?”

She didn’t answer, getting comfortable in her seat. His maid entered the room setting some fresh glasses down on a table in front of her then pouring their liquor, she smiled then left.

“Take a seat Chandler,” she says seeing his excitement about what was in her lap. “Everything’s here.”

He took his seat turning back to the TV. “There is a question I want to ask,” stated Chandler lifting up his glass. She nodded her head waiting for his question but knew already what it was. “What was your purpose for going through so much?”

“Does my reason matter if you get paid for what you do?” She asked.

“No not really. Just wanted to know, conversation I guess.”

“Stick to your end of this, don’t worry about mine,” the woman demanded.

Nodding, he motioned towards the TV leaning back into his chair.

“Is that…?” She started to ask.

“Yes!” He answered quickly. “You can watch it unfold as the time runs out.”

Positioning herself to watch constantly, she took a sip of the harsh liquor from her glass. “What’s going on now?”
