“So what happened when Patty got back?” Coutinho asked.

“I never found out.”

“Why not?”

“Because that asshole disappeared, and when he came back, he had that psycho bitch with him.”

“Meaning?”

“Deirdre. Who else? With her posse.”

“So that’s how they got hold of you?”

“Yeah.”

“Did you ever get a name for the guy in the jungle?”

“No. He obviously knew Deirdre, but that’s all I can tell you.”

“And you went off with her.”

“At first I was okay with it. I mean, they looked like my ticket out of the jungle. I was ready for a roof over my head.”
