“Well then, that settles it.” The young fireman straightened his shoulders. “Definitely count me in. And I’ll just bet I can get one or two other guys from the station to join up too if she needs more members.”

“I’m sure Mrs. Landry will appreciate the sentiment.” He smiled. “But don’t go doing any arm twisting. We only want members who really want to be there.”

“Understood. But like I said, I’d do anything to help out Coach or his family.”

Jeff’s sincerity was obvious. Ray Landry must have been quite a man if he could still elicit this kind of loyalty three years after he was gone.

“We haven’t had any real practice sessions yet so you won’t have to worry about playing catch-up. There’s an all-day clinic scheduled for Saturday at ten. Think you can make it?”

“I’ll be there.”

“You know where we meet?” At Jeff’s nod, he waved. “I really do need to go now. See you Saturday.”

Graham headed toward his vehicle, looking forward to giving Reeny the good news.
