Chapter Thirteen

Anthony checked his phone as soon as he got outside and noticed a missed call from Sean. Checking the perimeter of the area to make sure there was nobody within earshot, he pushed the call back button and waited for his friend to pick up. The call was picked up almost immediately, like Sean had been waiting for his call.

“Hey man,” Sean said.

“Noticed I had a missed call from you. What's up?” Anthony asked.

“Oh, not much, just thought I'd let you know of a film looking for some stars. Last minute thing. I just signed on, thought you might like to partner up again. You know, for old time's sake.”

Anthony laughed. “You talk like it's been forever since we filmed together, dude. What was it? A month or so ago, at most.”

“Something like that,” Sean said. “But you know, the industry needs you back, Tony. Your fans want you back. You're a star.”

Anthony frowned and ran an agitated hand through his hair. “A star? I wouldn't go that far, most people don't even know the name Chuck Dinger. And I'm very, very thankful for that.”

“The way you say that, you almost make it sound like you're ashamed,” his friend said sounding a bit annoyed.

“Well you have to admit, the name is kinda lame,” Anthony said. At the time he'd chosen it, he thought it sounded rad. He'd thought it was the perfect name for a porn star. Nothing like being young and stupid. At least, that was his excuse.

“Yeah, no clue why you thought that name was a good idea,” Sean laughed, still sounding a bit off. “But seriously, you are on fire. I'd hate to see you throw it all away because your family is filled with a bunch of douchebags.”

“It's not my family, Sean – it's me. I want out. It just doesn't fulfill me anymore. It doesn't give me that buzz it used to. I mean, there's only so much fucking on camera you can do before it starts to lose its appeal.”

Anthony lowered his voice, looking around to make sure he was still alone.

“That's just sad,” Sean sighed. “I'm glad I'm not there yet. But truly, I wish you'd come back. At least for one final go 'round.”

“Who knows? Maybe I will. Now's just not the time for it, you know? But you said I'm on fire, and I've always believed it's best to go out on top, so I make no guarantees.”

Anthony started to feel a little guilty for not opening up to Sean. For not telling him about his role in this movie, and the possibility of a new life. A new start. Sean had always been a good friend, but Anthony really wanted to keep the two worlds as separate possible. He hoped to make a smooth transition from porn into the real film industry and prayed his past didn't come back to bite him in the ass. If he had his way, he'd probably never do another adult film again. But
