Chapter Five

Day six at the bungalow and intense boredom had set in. Marjorie got up from her armchair and turned on Radio Four.

‘. . . and now it’s time for thought for the day with the Right Reverend Basil . . . .’

She turned it off abruptly. She went and made yet another cup of tea and sat and read the paper for a while. She tried the radio again and re-tuned it to another station.

‘German Bight, Humber – south westerly veering north westerly, six to gale eight, squally showers, mainly good . . . .’

She turned it off again. She tried the crossword but without a great deal of success. She dealt out a game of Patience but lost interest in it almost immediately. She gave the radio a last go and re-tuned it to Radio One.

‘ . . . . D J won’t even play my jam, cos I am an enemy, if I wasn’t then why would I say I am?’

Rap. She turned the radio off and unplugged it.
