"You shouldn't be here," a deep voice booms through the music playing in my ears.

Hitting the stop button on the treadmill, I pull one of my AirPods out and turn toward Coach.

"I know, sir. But I needed—"

"You're not playing Saturday. Doctor’s orders."

"Can I train?" I ask, hoping he will trust me to know my limits.

"You will take it easy. If you miss more than two games of this season, we might just find a way to manage without you, Legend."

"You got it, sir." I nod, grateful he's allowing me this.

I fucking need it. Since the moment I walked away from Letty yesterday, my head has been a mess. I spent all night pacing my room, desperately trying to expel my pent-up energy and anger. By this morning when I woke in time for practice, I knew that I needed to do something. So here I am.

I was the first in the parking lot and the only one in the building.

But hitting the state-of-the-art gym gave me the release I was craving without hauling my ass into the ring and attempting to break some bones.

What Letty told me yesterday. What she confessed—

Fuck. I still can't get my mind around it.

Grabbing a towel from the rack, I scrub it over my face, wincing slightly when I hit the still healing bruise down the side of my face.

She lost our fucking baby and went through all of that alone.

My fists curl with my need to hit someone, something.

I've felt anger before. Daily, mostly.

But this right now. This hate, hopelessness. I have no fucking idea how to deal with it.

Knowing that Coach is waiting in the field house, I immediately head that way.

The second I step inside, silence washes through the team as they look up at me.

But it's not until Luca steps forward, his face like fucking thunder, that I get any idea that things might be worse than usual.

"You fucking cunt. What did you do to her this time?" he barks, getting right in my face and slamming his palms down on my chest.

"Luc, chill the fuck out. Coach will be here any minute."

"I don't give a fuck. I want to know what he's done."

"I haven’t done anything."

"She wouldn't just leave a party with us to be with a waste of space like you."

I stare at him for a beat, taking in the vein that's bulging in his forehead and the muscle that's pulsating in his neck.

He's really fucking pissed.

A smile twitches at my lips knowing that I'm leading him on and just waiting for him to try throwing his first punch. He's a fucking pussy who thinks he's all that. I've been waiting for years to take him down.

"Then you need to start reconsidering what you think. Because that's exactly what happened, Dunn."

"Luc," Leon says again, wrapping his hand around his brother's shoulder. "Just leave it."

Luca snarls at me, his fists clenching at his sides, building himself up for what's to come next, but sadly, he doesn't get the chance.

"Luca," Coach barks.
