Dick decided to confront Valerie about it over lunch in the break room. He used the excuse that he just wanted to spend time with her and discuss how she was adjusting to the company. Valerie played along…almost tauntingly well.

“What an honor to be invited out to lunch by the president of the company!” joked Valerie, who was gnawing on a hot dog.

“Yeah,” Dick said, leaning back in his chair and studying her face. “So, you like that hot dog, do you?”

“It’s a hot dog. And one can’t complain!” she said, stuffing that long dog into her mouth.

“Hmmm. And how are you ‘getting along’ with the employees here? Are they treating you…GOOD?”

“Oh, they’re very good,” she replied with a smile.

“ARE THEY?”

“Well…I assume. Why else would you hire them if they weren’t good at their jobs?”

Dick backed down, pouting at this stupid charade they were playing. Valerie knew damn well what she did. But she was playing stupid.

“You know…” Dick laughed quietly. “I know about you, Valerie.”

“You’d better,” she teased. “We’ve been married many years. You’re my soulmate, my father figure, my lover, and my good husband. All that and a big dick! Speaking of hot dogs.” She winked.

“Yes, but…” Dick laughed again. Oh my god, he thought to himself. She’s really not going to confess?

Dick crossed his legs but still leered at his wife’s unfaithful eyes.
