Chapter 10

Santa Hunk has a killer of a kiss.

Mary had seen it coming, the speculative look in his eyes, intrigued, appreciative, and knowing. She didn't ward him off. She'd wanted this kiss from the moment she'd stumbled out of the snow and into his arms. The almost-kiss in his pantry only made the wanting worse.

Her eagle eyes had spied the mistletoe on their way out, and she'd been watching for it as they made their way back. She'd planned to try this same move herself, or at the very least ask him to stop and wait while she climbed the tree and harvested some for her goodie bag. She had mentally identified three good mistletoe hanging spots in his house.

When he'd stopped in the perfect spot beneath the tree, she'd had to swallow back a gleeful giggle. Great minds think alike, she decided just before his firm lips moving against hers sapped her ability to think.

He took his time with the kiss, and her lips sizzled with sensation. Nerves fired throughout her body, tightening her breasts, creating a powerful, hollow ache deep inside her. Her eyes were closed, her head thrown back. Surely the snow beneath her feet must be melting. Thank heavens he had a tight hold on her because she doubted her knees could hold her up. If she drowned in snowmelt, well, what a way to go.

When finally, minutes…maybe hours…later he released her, simultaneously numb and highly sensitized, she could do no more than stare up at him blankly.

"Merry Christmas," he murmured in a low, husky tone.

"Yes?"

He chuckled softly. "Not Mary with an A this time. Merry with an E." He pointed above them. "Mistletoe. Figured we shouldn't pass up the chance to spread some Christmas cheer."

"That was…uh…pretty cheery. Made me feel like I started hitting the wassail too hard."

"Funny. I feel like I have a really nice sugar buzz. I think we should harvest some of this for your bag. What do you think?"

Mary rolled her tongue around her mouth, still tasting him. What was he asking? What would she agree to if she said yes?

Did she want to sleep with Santa Hunk?

Oh, yeah.

Mary hadn't been with a man since Travis. She liked sex. She missed sex. She really, really, really, really would like to have sex with Nick Carstairs.

But she knew herself. She knew that in order to retain her self-respect, she needed more than just a physical release. As much as she enjoyed this lusty buzz, she couldn't give herself to a man unless her heart was involved.

So, it broke hers just a little bit to say, "I think a little mistletoe business can really brighten up a holiday. That said, I don't want any misunderstandings. I can only go so far with my gift of giving. I'm not a one-night stand kind of girl."

He tenderly stroked the pad of his thumb across her cheek. "Fair enough. I respect that. I respect you. Nothing wrong with drawing the line at mistletoe business."

Mary's heart lifted as anticipation sparkled through her.
