Chapter 13

“What in the actual hell?” I shrieked, getting up from the ground and tugging at a non-existent dress. Shit--naked, in front of Selene again. Not that I minded with how naked I had been in front of everyone lately. But damn, she was looking at me like I was a choice cut of beef.

The creepy-ass smile she was giving me was not helping that.

“How fucking long have you been standing there?” I spat, ripping the shirt out of Howl’s hand and throwing it over my head, not caring that it was both backward and inside out.

“Long enough,” she said, stepping around the still burning trees, scowling at the flames before her focus darted to my hand and the fire that was dripping from my fingertips.

I quickly pushed my hand behind my back, but even I knew that damage was already done.

“You are all dirty little beasts aren’t you?” she sneered, mostly looking at Howl, who was growling so loudly that I could barely hear Selene. “None as much as Howl, though. I barely believed it before, all of you fucking the whore. But seeing it. How do you stand it, Howl? How does your wolf like you fucking a pussy that’s dripping with another man’s cum?”

She smiled, Howl growled, but it wasn’t him who lunged at the bitch. It was me.

I snarled, wolf teeth pushing through as I nearly shifted in my lunge toward her pasty, prissy face. Claws out, I swiped at her, but she stepped back, Howl’s hands wrapping around my waist as he pulled me back. My claws didn’t even connect with her face, they breezed right by.

But she was still howling as though she had been struck, clutching her face as she cursed and stomped.

“Let me give her a reason to dance around,” I snarled, trying to break past Finn, and now Howl, who were doing their best to hold me back.

“I knew it,” Selene snarled, recovering from her pathetic act enough to face us, to remove her hand from her unmarred cheek.

Except it sure as hell wasn’t unmarred, four boiling, fiery cuts ripped through her skin from brow to chin, right were my claws would have hit--right where my magic did.

“Holy shit,” Howl snarled, Finn mumbling what I could only assume was a spell to reverse what I had done, except that the marks didn’t fade. They burned bright on her face. They burned and branded her face.

Oh, fuck.

“I knew they weren’t lying,” Selene continued, as the burn slowed and her shifter powers worked to heal the cuts. “They told me you had magic. At first I couldn't believe it, but it makes sense. How else could you have beat Pater? You would have to cheat…” Selene reached up, her fingers wiping away the few trails of blood that had seeped down her cheek, spreading the red across her face like warpaint.

“I didn’t cheat,” I snarled from between Finn and Howl, the two men flanking me, guarding me. Mostly naked. “If I had cheated I would have won a lot sooner.
