The alarm woke Emily up. The harsh tones seemed to bang against her skull until her eyes flickered open and she managed to slam the phone alarm off. She let out a groan, still feeling exhausted, as if she hadn’t rested at all.

That was because she hadn’t.

Next to her, Alec dozed away peacefully. Emily blushed and looked away, remembering last night and everything that had happened. She had undressed for him and then he had taken her, strong and pleasurable. His skin had been soft and his muscles hard. She had never had sex like that before in her entire life. Her body had seemed to come to life in Alec’s capable hands. He had shown and done things to her that Emily had never even dreamed of trying. But he had made it easy and comfortable. She didn’t even feel nervous when he did what he did.

She had lost count over how many times he had made her orgasm throughout the night. By the time they’d finally collapsed next to one another, it had been almost three in the morning. Emily had no idea how she would function on three hours of sleep, but she didn’t care.

Emily finally looked over at him again, admiring the way he looked when he slept. She was already craving his touch again. The way his hands had felt on her skin had been unreal. Her heart beat faster at the mere thought of it.

Instead, she nudged him awake gently. His eyes opened and he smiled sleepily when he saw her.

“Hey.”

“Hey, sorry to get you up already. It’s six a.m. Are you going to stay here?”

He nodded. “At least for a couple more hours.”

“Okay. I have to meet Jacob.”

Alec kissed her and rolled over, falling back to sleep almost instantly. Emily had to fight the urge not to roll over and join him. Instead, she dragged herself out of bed to get ready to meet Jacob.

She made it down to the lobby with five minutes to spare, and was craving a coffee. Her body had a sweet soreness to it that she loved. Emily thought back to Alec’s hands on her and gave a sigh of delight. She spotted Jacob in the lobby and walked over to him. She was going to say hello when she saw the look on his face. Her heart began to thump.

“What is it?”

“I had a call from Selena just now. Mr. Richardson’s girlfriend.”

“Yeah…?”

“She, uh…she said you’ve been let go. Order from the top. She emailed the paper work and everything. I’m to give you your plane ticket to go home.”

Emily felt as if the ground had opened up underneath her and swallowed her whole. Rage filled her, and for a moment she swore she saw red.”

“She can’t do that. She has no power in the company at all. She can’t fire people.”

“No, she can’t. But,” Jacob handed his phone over and Emily found herself staring at the HR paperwork showing she had been fired. “Mr. Richardson signed it.”

“That’s impossible.
