CHAPTER SIX - Back to Reality

The next day’s journey back to the UK in Logan’s jet is almost as unbearable as the first time, though for very different reasons. Instead of being distant, cold and out of view in his private little area at the back, he is nestled close (but not too close of course) next to me in one of the intimate, round leather booths. We try our best to behave, God forbid that the friendly, tuxedo wearing old man (who once again insisted on loading my luggage for me, and I can’t help but think he is actually Norse’s private butler), should catch us.

But no matter how hard we try, we can’t keep our eyes off each other - stealing flirtatious glances and discreetly caressing each other while pretending to be deeply interested in the business related graphs and charts or whatever that we are meant to be focusing on.

The phrase ‘mile high club’ flits enticingly through my mind several times during the flight, and while there is nothing I hunger for more than the feel of his body and his flesh crushed against mine once more, there is no way I have the guts to be so bold. So I simply sit and wait, secretly hoping that he might make the suggestion or some kind of decisive move. But my dreams are sadly thwarted, and my boss remains all too self-controlled for my liking. But when we finally arrive at his private, five star suite back in Bristol (does he have one in every city?!), he really makes up for the teasing journey.

“I think perhaps some food is in order.” Logan says as we step into the suite, looking me up and down as if I’m the meal.

“Will the restaurant still be open this late?” I have no idea what the time actually is (my watch is still set to Chicago time), but judging from the deep, dark blue shade of the night sky, it’s definitely approaching midnight.

“Oh, we don’t need to worry about the restaurant.” Logan says mysteriously, smiling smugly as he takes my hand and leads me back out of the door. Instead of heading towards the elevator, he turns right and guides me down the corridor towards a locked door, clearly marked ‘Staff Only Beyond This Point’, for which Logan magically produces the key from his top pocket. I tilt my head and furrow my brow in silent question, but he just continues to smile dashingly at me.

Behind the door is a set of stairs - presumably heading towards the roof - and Logan begins pulling me up them. I stumble along behind him in my high heels - where on earth is he taking me? But then we come to a second door, and as we step through it my questions are answered and my jaw drops.

As I suspected, we are on the roof, and the view from up here is simply spectacular. But that’s not what takes my breath away - in front of me, set up on the hotels helipad, is a white canopy adorned in fairylights.
