TESTING TELLS HOW COMMON GLUTEN SENSITIVITY IS

Bill goes to a doctor complaining that all of a sudden his thoughts are scattered, and he’s finding it hard to concentrate. Bill tells his primary care doctor about his confusion and also about the fact that he’s started to have headaches. The doctor recommends prescription-strength Tylenol for the headaches and sends him on his way.

Bill gives the medicine a shot, but it doesn’t seem to help with the confusion, and it actually makes his headaches worse. The doctor, with nothing left in his arsenal, sends Bill to a neurologist, who recommends a stronger medication. It helps with the headaches, but it makes Bill feel queasy all the time. When he goes back to complain, the neurologist sends him to a research center where they see lots of people like Bill who have been suffering for quite a while. Like Bill, they’ve been to other doctors already and nothing has seemed to help.

The research center is on the cutting edge and knows to test for gluten sensitivities when the cause of a neurological disease is unknown. Why? When the cause of a neurological complaint at a research center is discovered, the number of patients with elevated antibodies to gluten is 5 percent. When the cause cannot be discovered, the number of patients with elevated antibodies to gluten is 57 percent.23

Like so many other patients with unexplained neurological complaints, Bill found that his headaches resolved on a gluten-free diet. We know that gluten is the most commonly recognized environmental trigger that sets off any autoimmune reaction. As no human can fully digest gluten, I recommend the following gluten sensitivity test, as well as a test for intestinal permeability, for everyone who has an unresolved health complaint. These blood tests, along with the Multiple Autoimmune Reactivity Screen, can be done from a single blood draw. Then you’ll know what the most appropriate next steps should be for you to restore your health. Ideally, the following tests would be done before you begin my 3-week program and then again 3 to 6 months afterward.
