Ryder grimaced as the leather kissed his skin. The second strike burned, and he tightened his butt cheeks.

“Not a sound, Ryder,” he snapped.

Ryder let out a silent “ouch” as the belt bit into his flesh again, bringing pain. He hadn’t even thought when he’d come. The bliss claiming him had been too good to think through.

“You’ll have to learn to obey me, Ryder,” Jarrett said. He landed two more strikes and drew a tiny peep of sound from Ryder. “Understood?”

The sixth tap landed a little harder than the others and tears filled his eyes. “Yes. I understand.”

Jarrett threaded the belt through the loops of his pants. “Next time, we’ll use the ball gag. It just kills me to hit you as a punishment.” Their eyes met in the mirror and Ryder saw a flash of that pain.

Sweet, sweet Dom.

“Clean up and let’s have lunch.” He grabbed two washcloths and handed one to Ryder. “I want to see you tonight.”

“Your place or mine?”

“Yours.”

“Stay with me, Jarrett,” he said in a pleading tone.

“Not tonight, Ryder,” he replied.

Ryder made a face and Jarrett saw the hurt but didn’t know how to get them past it. He wasn’t ready to go that far. He needed to get his footing first.

He was already doing more than he thought he could by not running as fast as he could away from Ryder. He knew Ryder could steal his heart—hell, he had it in a firm grip as it was.

If Ryder left him, he’d be nothing more than a cold shell of himself.
