The week was passing slowly, and I couldn't focus on work for shit. It was midday on Wednesday, and I was currently sitting at my desk in the squad room with a slew of file folders spread out in front of me with my mind elsewhere. The mind-numbing paperwork that sucked, the interviews and suspect interrogations I usually relished, and the tedious legwork that at least got me out of the station, all were overshadowed by one cocky arrogant sexy as hell man. Scott Conrad.

I couldn't get him and Saturday night in that private room out of my head. I have no idea how he'd managed to top the first time, but he had, and it had been incredible. It was the greatest sexual experience of my life. I kept daydreaming about him and losing focus. I kept dreaming of him at night and waking up breathless and turned on beyond all belief. It wasn't helping that he'd been periodically sending me suggestive texts and explicit images from the Internet of the things he wanted to do to me over the last few days. I may or may not have been sexting him back in a few moments of weakness. Let's just say that my vibrator was getting one hell of workout this week.

On the up side, Scott and I had managed to rule out one of the suspects in Tasha's and the other girl's murders, so there was that. It made me feel a little better about being preoccupied with thoughts of Scott, and his incredible body and sexual prowess. Especially since I was pretty sure that Warren and the homicide squad hadn't gotten anywhere on the case so far. I'd been keeping tabs on their comings and goings as much as I could, and knew those file folders I briefly pilfered last week were currently sitting untouched on top of one of the chaotic piles on his desk.

I looked across the room toward his desk and narrowed my eyes at the jerk in question as he worked at his sloppy desk in his sloppy clothes. Just looking at him irked me off. I really want to go over there and demand to know why he'd gotten nowhere on this case considering his usual turnover rate, but thought better of it. The less attention I drew to myself, the better. I did not want my own unauthorized investigation into it to be discovered. I'd probably get fired, if not charged with obstruction or something worse.

I sighed deeply and stared down at my hands. Who was I, and what was I turning into? I'd never done anything to jeopardize my career like this before. My job was everything to me, yet I couldn't manage to feel any remorse for what I'd chosen to do. I didn't know what that said about me and my moral standards. Probably not much. I sighed and slumped dejectedly in my chair.

"Mi pequeña sol," a familiar smooth male voice suddenly said behind me with warm affection.
