The nude maiden kneeling by a pool beneath the stars personifies bright optimism and love.

The female figure may represent Venus, the lode star of the ancient Greeks, who named her Hesperus when she followed the sun as an evening star, and Lucifer or Phosphorus (light-bringer) at dawn.

Behind her are trees with lush green leaves, denoting spring. A bird, symbol of love, sits on one, and another perches near her outstretched foot.

She pours water from two pitchers. One is said to contain the waters of life, replenishing the material plane, and the other the waters of universal consciousness, refreshing mind and spirit, and refilling the pool of memory. Her rule over both dimensions is symbolized by having one foot on land and the other foot in water.
