I slammed my feet to the floor and whipped around, meeting AJ’s casual smile. The other diners in the hotel restaurant were too far away to hear him, thank goodness. They didn’t need to be picturing his face between my thighs over their scrambled eggs and toast. Of course, with him sitting so close to me, I couldn’t not picture it. The man was a master of distraction.

We’d celebrated our business coup all night in our own way, which meant hours upon hours of naked time. Something I was very much looking forward to getting back to, but we had one last job to do. The final thread to tie up before he could tie me up.

I really needed to get my mind off sex.

“Stop looking at me as if I’m something to eat,” I whispered, leaning closer to him. “Your sexiness is making me nervous.”

He covered my hand with his, squeezing tight. “You need to relax, pretty girl.”

I nodded, shooting a glance at the door to the hotel restaurant again. The same door I’d been staring at since we sat down. “I know. I will. I just…want this over.”

AJ nuzzled my neck, biting once before licking away the sting. “I bet I could make you loosen up…”

One-track mind. “Stop trying to make me think about sex while I’m ramping up to deal with my brother. The two streams should never cross.”

His sigh sounded heavy, but he smiled as he moved to a respectable distance from me. “It was worth a shot.” But AJ wasn’t one to ignore me. He kept a hand on the back of my chair, kept a thumb rubbing along my nape. Kept in contact. “You’re going to do great. And I’ll be here as your muscle if you need me.”

“Thanks. I might take you up on that if he insults Pops’ Hops again. The man wouldn’t know a well-run brewery if it smacked him in the face and started to wiggle.”

Chuckling under his breath, AJ nodded to the waiter as he passed, making a motion to order another round of mimosas. Apparently, we were going to get drunk at breakfast. Something I would probably need once I was through with Charles.

As if that thought called to the devil himself, my brother came strutting into the dining room, a confident, professional businessman. I saw past his veneer, though. He was still pissed, and the anger flashing in his eyes only grew when he saw my table guest.

“Showtime,” I whispered, pulling my hand from AJ’s and grabbing my napkin. He sat back, casual as fuck, looking like sin incarnate sitting next to me. “Behave.”

“Mmm…probably not.”

I really hadn't expected him to.

“What was that email about last night?” Charles stormed the table, practically looming over me. “You can’t quit on me.”

I wiped my mouth with my napkin and sat back, regarding him as coolly as I possibly could.
