Chapter 27

“This chicken is delicious, Julian,” Mom said after swallowing a bite.

“I agree,” Dad added. “Luckily you had Beth helping you out.”

Mom frowned and glared at her husband, but Julian just chuckled and said, “Beth was a great help. I couldn’t have done it without her.”

“Yeah, right,” I said. “All I did was let him know how long to cook it. He did everything else.”

We were all sitting around Julian’s new dining room table, with him at one end and my father at the other. Keeping with our plan to stay physically apart in front of my family, I was sitting next to my dad with my brother Sam between Julian and me.

It was kind of surreal to be sitting here amid my family, including my brother-in-law, after having his dick in my mouth a half-hour earlier. I replayed the scene over and over in my head, recalling how his cock felt and tasted as it jetted its load into the back of my throat. And now he was sitting down there at the other end of the table talking to the rest of the family like nothing had happened.

It was at that moment I realized I loved him. I wanted it all with him – love, marriage, kids – the whole deal. Yes, he belonged to my sister, but as sad as it was, that was over now. Cheryl would want him to be happy, and I was now convinced I was the one who could give him that.

Of course, the only problem would be my family. The same people I loved would be the ones standing in the way of my happiness with Julian. Would they ever be able to accept me taking Cheryl’s place in Julian’s life? I had my doubts about that. Cheryl had been their first-born, and they’d been so happy when she married Julian. And now here I was ruining all those memories of their daughter. How could they ever accept that?

I looked up from my plate to see my mom staring across the table at me.

“Something wrong?” she asked.

“No, I’m fine.”

“You look like something’s bugging you.”

“I’m fine, Mom. I’m just happy we’re all together again. Cheryl would’ve wanted it this way.”

She nodded as she continued to stare at me. “Yes, she would have.”

“Hey guys,” Julian said to my brothers, “I just bought the new X-box yesterday. After we’re done eating, you want to help me set it up?”

“Cool!” the boys shouted in unison, and I smiled at Julian’s talent in lightening the mood. But when I looked back at my mom, she was still watching me with a concerned expression.

After dinner, Dad sat on the recliner while Julian and the boys set up the video game. Mom and I remained in the kitchen, cleaning up.

We were quiet for a while, but as we loaded the dishwasher, she spoke,

“You sure nothing’s wrong?” she asked.

“Mom, I’m fine.”

“I’m just saying, if you need anyone to talk to.”

“Thanks, but there’s nothing to talk about.”

“I know you broke up with Ricky a while back.
