Dusk swallowed the bright blue sky causing hues of the darkest yellows and oranges to fill the horizon with the blackness of night following right behind. The oncoming of night was showing no signs of bringing relief to the humidity that the day had held. The air was thick and almost choking, sweat poured down faces narrowly escaping blinking eyes that avoided the sting of the salt filled liquid. A breeze would have felt nice at any given time but the leaves on the trees remained stoic and unmoving. The “dog days” of summer were upon the city of New York with more to follow as it was only the beginning of August.

Candice fanned herself with the

vigorously, as she checked out her surroundings. The crowd was building by the minute and she could feel her anxiety level go up. She hated crowds but here she was in the midst of one alone. The friend that was supposed to accompany her had to handle other business and cancelled at the last minute. Candice may have hated crowds but there was no way that she could miss this concert tonight. The singing duo Floetry was appearing together for the first time in over six years, the excitement about the

announcement was felt by everyone who had been disappointed when they disbanded.

Because of this Candice wanted to get to Central Parks Great Lawn early so that she could get a good spot. Without thinking she’d gone right up to the front of the stage when the guards began letting people in. It was a free concert so everyone and their sister’s uncle were showing up. Once the excitement settled in her veins Candice made the mistake of looking behind her. Fear gripped her and claustrophobia tried to sneak in, she quickly went into her oversized purse, pulling out one of two bottles of water. Thankful that the water was still ice cold she tilted her head back and took a big gulp, letting the cool liquid flow through her overheated body. She sighed feeling instant relief as the tension that was building calmed down and the goose bumps that were forming on her skin disappeared.

Candice put the bottle back into her bag and smoothed out invisible wrinkles on her knee length royal blue empire waist dress. The dress accented the curves that her voluptuous figure had in plenty.
