Slowly, she opened her eyes, eyes stuck together with blood and tears. The room was empty, silent, dark; the light had been turned off. She started to cry again. Silent tears as it hurt her to breathe. She knew that the mattress was covered in her blood, she could feel it sticking to her, not that she moved a lot. She couldn't. Her arms were useless, they had to be broken. Her tongue could feel the gaps in her mouth where teeth had been. He had hit her so hard. But it was her stomach that was causing her most pain. She had lost count of the number of times that he had kicked her as if she had been a football. In the end she had lost consciousness.

What had she done wrong? She had worn the clothes he had left and had stood up when he entered. She had thought he would be kinder to her. How wrong she was. His fury had erupted and he had leapt over the matress and pinned her to the wall, pulling at her arms. Her arms. That was it. She had covered herself up because she was embarrassed to wear a see-through shirt. That was what had made him angry. He had pushed her to the ground and and stamped on both her arms until she had heard the sickening cracks. She would never be able to cover herself again. She had begged him to stop, but her pleas just made him hit her harder. Her eyes started to feel heavy again. If she closed them, the pain might go away.
