It was just like my fantasy come to life. Not the one about turning this place into a homeless shelter, though I still hoped that was possible someday. No, this was almost exactly like what I envisioned the other day when Liam was rubbing my feet. At that time I imagined us cozying up together in front of a fire… and now we were.

Liam had taken me at my word when I said my front was warm but my back was cold. He’d come up with the perfect solution and now I was warm all over—in more ways than one. He sat on the floor with his back against an old ottoman he’d dragged over. His legs were spread and I was seated between them, my back against his chest. My coat was off—I didn’t need it with his warm body behind me.

His arms were wrapped around me too. One crossed my stomach like a seatbelt. The other rested on my thigh, idly stroking up and down. It was like reclining in a chair made of hot, hard, man, and I couldn’t imagine ever wanting to get up.

The fire crackled as we talked. I couldn’t see his face, but I could feel his breath on my neck. He pushed my hair to one side, claiming that it was getting in his mouth, but part of me wondered if he’d just liked touching my hair. When I’d been a kid, I’d hated my red strands, but now I liked them. I hoped Liam did too.

Liam’s muscles moved behind me as he reached for the thermos. As he pulled it toward him, I grabbed his wrist and re-directed it, taking a sip out of it myself.

“You little minx,” he growled in my ear, making me laugh. “No, wait, not minx, you’re a vixen.”

“What’s the difference?”

“A vixen is a female fox. With your hair, it seems more fitting.” His free hand grazed my neck and then his fingers glided up my scalp, spreading out in my hair.

A moan escaped my lips as I hung my head forward. The thermos got knocked over and I quickly righted it. I didn’t want him to stop rubbing my head even for a second.

It felt incredible. My hands squeezed his firm thighs as he rubbed my scalp sending tingles along my skin. “Please don’t stop.”

“Wasn’t planning to.” His voice was a low rumble that seemed to enter my ears and travel down my spine. To a certain spot between my legs that was feeling quite heated. He rubbed his thumbs against my temples, and I moaned again. If Liam really wanted a fresh start in life, he should become a massage therapist. I’d gladly pay every penny of my salary for this kind of treatment.

“I could listen to you moan all day,” he murmured in my ear.

“If you keep rubbing my head like that, you’d hear it all day. Mmm…” That last moan wasn’t planned for effect, it just slipped out. He chuckled and I felt his chest shake as he laughed.
