Chapter 15

Chet

It felt like forever since Bruno had gotten on the phone. Although he had been interested at first, Chet eventually tuned out the conversations. It all sounded complicated to him and like Oliver had warned him about, Chet wasn't sure he wanted to know all the details of Bruno's coverup attempts. There was something about it that made Chet uneasy, although this was the way things had to be to keep paranormal beings safe, too.

But when paranormal beings hurt people like him, did they deserve to be able to hide behind their intricate network of politicians, police forces, and doctors? Shouldn't they have to pay for their crimes as well?

“All right, I'm done,” Bruno announced as he pocketed his phone.

Chet rose to his feet. “Does that mean we're going out to meet your clan now?”

“Yep. Dalton's pack is also going to be there so you can see wolves, too.”

Chet quivered with anticipation and nerves. To be amongst a group of shifters with physical strength and abilities far beyond his was thrilling and frightening. Bruno was going to be there, though, so Chet was confident no harm would come to him.

“Grab your helmet and let's go.”
