Well, after Max put me in my place and used me like a whore, things got better again. Funny thing is, I never even felt angry with him. I was punished for treating my man poorly, and now I know to show him respect.

I can tell Max is planning something, though. Something strange, no doubt. He's been on the phone, whispering quietly about this coming weekend. I swear I could hear him say something about a bike in his whispers, but I can't be sure.

He's on the phone again while I'm cooking lunch. It's summer vacation for me, and believe me I need a few months away from school. I've dropped my hours at work to only 20 a week, so I can spend more time with Max. He makes more than enough to take care of me, but I know if I quit I'll get bored.

I pause as I stir my soup and look out the window. It's bright and sunny outside, with a few kids running down the street and walking a dog. I turn off the heat to the stove and head to the front door to pick up the mail that arrived a few minutes earlier. Just bills. I'll deal with them later.

I toss them onto the island before heading to Max's office, hoping to overhear what he's planning before I let him know lunch is ready. He's already off the phone though. He looks up as I step into the room, smiling as he checks me out. I'm in the new dress he bought me, a bright yellow sundress. I have no shoes on, but my toenails are painted orange. I look like ripe citrus.

He breathes in a happy sigh. “Lunch ready? It smells great.”

“Yep, it is!” He follows me to the kitchen, where we both grab a bowl of soup. It's a recipe from my grandmother, who probably got it from her grandmother. Before he sits down, Max grabs the mail and brings it over to us.

“There's a letter here for you,” he says as he hands it to me. I don't notice the smile he's trying to hide from me.

I slide a nail under the letter's flap and pull out the piece of paper. I never get mail. Unfolding the letter, I see that it is an invitation, designed no doubt by a secretary that loves clip art. On each of the corners is a drawing of a person riding a bike.

“It's a bike riding party. Oh, and it looks like your gated community is requiring us to go,” I say. I look up at Max, confused. “Is that even legal?”

He shrugs. “I probably agreed to it when I moved in. Anyway, I was already asked to come on the phone, and I said yes. Our bikes are in the back of the truck.”

“Oh... well, okay.” I assume he means our normal bikes, not the bike he's used to put me back into my place as his girlfriend and fucktoy.
