“Syd, get up!" Judas hollered, throwing the covers off his king sized bed, exposing Sydney's half-naked body to the rays of the morning sun.

Sydney was shattered from the night before. She rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up right, wondering why Judas was hollering so loudly.

"What?" she moaned.

It was Monday morning and since she didn't have a job, and looking for one was out of the question, she hoped that Judas had a good excuse for waking her up.

"Did Naomi call?" she asked, still half asleep.

"Forget that," Judas replied as he scrunched up his face, "my man just called me. We’re about to get paid in the New Year baby."

He then dragged her out of the bed and began dancing with her excitedly around the room.

"You mean the deal's going through? You’re a partner in a major shipping business?” Sydney asked as she magically became awake.

"Yep, I told you I had the mother of all connects, right?" he replied as he playfully slapped her bare skin, “now come give me some love!"

Ecstatic, Sydney raced her shadow and leapt into Judas' open arms.

"You’re amazing, you know that, right?" she said, slipping him her tongue.

"I love you, you know that?" Judas replied.

Sydney blushed and then kissed Judas one more time. She couldn’t believe the words that he’d just said; they scared her a little bit. For a moment, she wasn’t herself, then she was, then she was gone.

"Sydney, where you going?" Judas asked as she leapt out of his arms and off of the bed.

"I wanna go tell my girls we're about to get paid! Brittany!" she hollered through the apartment.

Pushing her bedroom door open, she was stunned to find that the room was empty and Brittany was gone. The only indication that Brittany had been in the apartment at all the night before was her empty plate in the kitchen sink.

"How come Brittany left?" Sydney turned and asked Judas.

"I dunno," he struggled, "I took my ass to bed when you went."

"And when was that?"

"Late,” he brushed her off again.

He'd been doing that a lot lately, just like the night she'd come back from Craig's house. She was still shaken from watching Craig take his last breath and Paige called Naomi on her mobile. She knew no matter what they were going through, when she needed her sister, she'd be there but when she never got an answer, she knew something was wrong.

“What the fuck happened?” Judas had roared when she entered the apartment in the early hours of the morning as she returned from Craig’s house with his blood splattered on her clothes.

“Sugar, don’t mind him, come here," Jada chimed in as she came rushing in her defense, "pay him no mind. We’ve all just worried about you, that's all. You had a rough night, huh?"

"Are you hurt?" she asked, wiping the small splatters of Craig’s blood off of her face with a wet towel Trina had handed her.

"Julius, go mix Sydney a strong drink," Judas instructed the small boy who always seemed to be up way past his bedtime.
