CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Finn and Robin made the walk to Robin's parents' place in complete silence. It was a more funereal procession than the actual funeral had been. Robin's parents lived in the woods, some ways down a winding gravel road. The small wooden cottage was surrounded in a tangle of flowers, their colors still vibrant in the evening light.

"Darling!" Beth greeted them both with a cheery smile. "You're right on time."

She kissed each of them on the cheek and ushered them inside. The house was the definition of precious. Every surface was covered in doilies, and Finn counted at least five vases of flowers. Framed pictures hung on the walls, side by side with knick-knacks and bundles of dried herbs.
