Chapter 8

Ryan and I continued to date and went slow. He was so patient with me and with prom coming up I had decided it was finally time. I knew having sex prom night was cliché, but I really loved him and I actually had permission from my parents to camp out at the lake. It was also in the back of my mind that he would be going to college soon.

He had been accepted to Kansas State University, which was only about two hours away so I figured we would be okay. I knew it would be tough though.

Michelle, Jackie and I went prom dress shopping a couple weeks before prom. I had to get two because I was also going with Ryan to his senior prom that was a week before ours.

Michelle and I had our dresses picked out after an hour, but of course Jackie was still having a hard time finding one she loved.

Jackie came out in a really pretty teal dress and Michelle and I gave our approval. Jackie was checking herself out in the mirror when I blurted out, "So I'm pretty sure I'm going to have sex with Ryan."

Michelle looked at me surprised. "Really? When?"

I tried to seem casual. "Prom."

She rolled her eyes at the cliché, but smiled. "Well finally!"

I rolled my eyes at that. I was only sixteen almost seventeen, but still it's not like I was forty.

Jackie walked over. "Have you told him yet?"

I shook my head no, "I want to surprise him at prom."

Jackie finally picked out a dress and we headed home.

Ryan and I had a blast at his prom, but I couldn't wait until mine. When he picked me up to take me to my junior prom I was wearing my dark plum sparkly prom dress and had my hair up. When we went to his I had a light blue prom dress with my long hair down.

He looked really good in his tux and he told me I looked beautiful. Jackie and Michelle were at my house with their dates. We let my parents take pictures and then we headed to prom.
