Chapter Two

JORDAN

I’ve been on three tours before. The first one was small. The second two were a fairly big deal.

But I have to admit, they were nothing compared to this. Sinner’s Run is as big as it gets, and I know this is an opportunity that won’t come around again.

The show is amazing. Fantastic. Completely unforgettable.

It was a surprise, one nobody knew was coming. When the show is over, the execs come out and announce they’re taking everyone, everyone, out for an after-party to celebrate the kickoff of the tour. I’m not a party girl, but even I’m smiling when we climb into one of the dozen limos waiting outside.

“Good thing I brought the good stuff with me tonight,” Dillon says as he reaches into his pocket and draws out a baggie with two joints in it.

“You looking to get kicked off this tour the day it begins?” I ask, raising an eyebrow at him. I’m not surprised. We were on the Halo War tour together. He’s high most nights.

“Come on, Jordan, it’s a rock tour,” he says with a coy smile as he pulls out the first one. He pulls a lighter from his other pocket and lights one up. “There isn’t that saying for no good reason. Sex, drugs, rock and roll for life. You ready to fulfill that first part yet?”

I lift my foot and crush it down on his, grinding my heel in as he yelps and pulls it away. “I warned you not to say that shit,” I say in annoyance without looking at him. “You’re not my type.”

“Ah, I forget, I don’t have a vagina,” he says snarkily.

I snap a hand out and snatch the joint from his lips. “Just cause I don’t want your sorry excuse for a dick doesn’t make me a lesbian,” I snarl as I roll down the window and throw his joint out into the night.

“Come on, guys,” Bobby says from the other side of the limo. “It’s day one. Don’t start it out being an ass, Dillon. We’ve got six long months ahead of us.”

Dillon scowls and looks away, pouting over the loss of his weed.

Bobby is older than Dillon and me by twenty years. He’s got long hair that he pulls back into a low ponytail and a few streaks of gray are spreading through it. His skin is leathered, and he seems older than he actually is. He’s lived this life on tour for two decades, and I have to wonder if this is what I have to look forward to. This life will wear you out fast.

I’m not sure how Dillon keeps his job. He’s always high. He looks grungy all the time. He has a tendency to say idiotic things. Unfortunately, he has a reputation for being one of the best guitar techs out there.

Tyler personally asked for him on this tour.

I look out the window as we round a corner. A dark building illuminated by green and purple lights comes into view and then we park out front.
