James Morgan was a different prospect entirely. When an officer had been sent to his place of work to pick him up, he had not gone quietly, and both he and the two arresting officers had sustained injuries.

Cooper and Sloane had traveled to a different police station, but the interrogation room was almost identical. A metal table bolted to the floor sat in the middle, and metal chairs sat on either side. Robert Davenport had not had the option to call a lawyer, but he had not asked for one either. James Morgan had requested one as soon as he got to the station.

James Morgan was handcuffed to the table after the attack on the two cops, but he would have been cuffed to the table anyway after his previous assaults. When Cooper and Sloane entered, James was sitting with his lawyer.

They could not have looked more different. James Morgan had a shaved head, was short and wiry, and sported tattoos all down his left arm. His lawyer was a stocky man with thick black hair, and he wore a suit.

Cooper and Sloane sat down opposite the suspect and his lawyer. Cooper didn't know if James's request for a lawyer meant he was guilty or if it was instinct to call a lawyer when arrested.

"Mr. Morgan, thank you for talking with us today," Cooper said.

"Like I had a choice," he replied.

"You had a choice in how you got here, but you chose violence, didn’t you?" Copper asked.

James smirked and looked to the side. "Two versus one; hardly a fair fight."

"You choose violence a lot, don't you?" Sloane asked.

"What’s it to you?" James asked.

"And a dislike for women. Isn’t that right?" Sloane pushed.

James both his bottom lip and stared at Sloane, hoping to intimidate her. It didn't work.

Sloane opened the folder before her and went over the police report. "You assaulted a woman on the street when she wouldn't give you her number. She ended up in the hospital. What do you think that tells us, James?"

"No comment," James said.

"My client made mistakes in the past and did his time for them. Why have you brought my client in?" the lawyer asked.

"You’ve had seven different therapists over the past ten years, and you assaulted two of them. Both women. The only two who were women. Why was that, James?" Sloane continued.

"My client does not need to answer that question," the lawyer replied. "My client was arrested previously and faced the consequences for his crimes. Unless you are reopening any cases, I suggest you move on with your questions."

"Mr. Morgan, you attended The Oregon Therapy And Self-Help Conference recently, didn’t you?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah, I might have," James replied.

"Why did you attend the conference?" Cooper asked.

"For therapy and shit," James replied.

The lawyer quickly whispered in his client’s ear.

"I apologize," James said, placing his hand over his heart. "I didn't mean to use such strong language in front of a woman. I want you to know that I’ve turned my life around and am a contributing member of society.
