One of Arianna’s eyes peeled open angrily. She glanced at the clock through one eye. A knock sounded again on her front door. Muttering angrily she thrust herself out of bed. This was the second weekend in a row on her off day that she was woken up before she wanted to get up.

“Coming!” she snapped out wiping the saliva off her mouth and cheek and slipping into her robe. She grabbed her bat on the way to the door. “I said I’m coming dammit!” Arianna whipped the front door open and didn’t drop her bat. “Jay, what in the holy fuck are you doing knocking at my damn door at fuckin’ eleven o’clock in the damn morning? And you better not give me no fuckin’ gift,” she pointed the baseball bat at her.

Jay chuckled at her, “Good morning to you too, sunshine. You throwing it all out?” she jerked her head to all of the gifts she had anonymously sent to her over the past few weeks.

Arianna peered at the section of items holding her porch hostage. Barely, she remembered dragging down and out all of the items after Mya had left or rather passed out on her couch. “Either you take them with you now or I’m donating it.”

“Fine. I’ll take all the stuff with me. For now,” she stressed. “But you have to keep one thing.”

“Jay, I’m not keeping shit you’ve given me.”

Rolling her green eyes Jay walked down the porch and to her car. She pulled something from the backseat and carried it up the few stairs to stand in front of Arianna. “I’ll take that shit,” Jay pointed to the gimongous bear and other things. “Until you want them back. But you,” she pointed at Arianna. “You gotta take this,” Jay turned the canvassed picture around.

Her mouth dropped and her tear ducts instantly tore. The canvass wasn’t blank ready to be painted. It was a picture canvass. A picture of Arianna’s younger sister, or brother, if you wanted to call the deceased young stud that. “Ronnie,” her fingers traced the real life features of her face.

Quickly, Jay slipped into her personal space and planted a kiss on her lips. “Happy birthday, Ari. Oh and I’m leaving the table. Your porch looks kinda bare.”

Frozen Arianna didn’t respond. She only stared at the picture of her sister. Even as Jay collected the other items, she didn’t say anything. It was only as Jay drove away that she looked up and murmured, “Thank you,” which was only heard by the fumes left over from Jay’s car.
