Chapter Thirteen

Sandra

I'm not expecting a knock at my front door, and I bolt upright off my couch at the sound. It's been two days since Rico and I made love, or whatever you want to call the mind-blowing time we had, and I can’t stop thinking about him.

I thought I'd be more sad at losing my virginity, but in all honesty, it doesn't feel like a loss. My plan had just been to talk to Rico, but talk very quickly morphed into something else, and I'd been consumed with need.

Hearing him say that he was going to show me what it was like to be used pushed me over the edge, and I was a goner in that moment. The thought of Hunter wanting to use me wasn't sexy at all, but something in the way Rico said that he was going to show me what it was like to be used just destroyed me. At that point, he couldn't have beaten me off with a stick, I’d been determined to have him.

And that thing he did with his tongue and his hands...

I try to push the thoughts away as I peek through the peephole of my door. On the other side is an older looking woman with a kind face. Confused that there's a stranger here that I don't recognize, I open the door. What harm could there be to answering the door to a nice old lady?

She seems shocked that I open the door. Her eyebrows lift and her mouth opens in surprise before shifting into a smile.

“Are you Sandra?”

Now that I know she's here looking for me, I feel a bit more comfortable. “I am. How can I help you?”

Her smile brightens. “Would you mind going for a walk with me and talking for a few?”

Well, I'm fully aware that there are probably episodes of Dateline that start this way. I can't help but feel like I'm safe with this woman. “Sure, let me get ready.” With that, I close and lock the door before hurrying to get my keys, phone, and shoes. For safety's sake, I turn on my tracking app that I use when I go for a jog so that my phone can map where I'm going, where I've been, and how long I've been there. I might think that I’m safe from whatever an old woman might have planned, but I'm not so naive as to think that means I should be stupid. Could she be leading me directly into a trap? Maybe. But if I designate where we walk, it'll be a lot harder for her to ambush me.

In a few moments, I head out the front door and lock it behind me. I quickly meet up with the woman and we begin to walk toward the park area of my apartment complex. The area is large, with a dog run on one side, a children's park on the other and a fully fenced outer area that people use to walk amongst the trees, the shrubbery and the plants.
