Chapter 18

Dinner with Jasper went much better than I expected. It went so well that as he walks me to my front door, I wonder why I told Becca that I didn’t know how he fit into my life. The easy conversation and continuous laughter, his amazing eyes and infectious smile made the night more than enjoyable. He probably could fit into my life without me so much as lifting a finger to move anything out of the way.

We step onto my front porch and I spin to face him. Before I say a word, he takes my arm and leans in for a kiss. Whereas his lunchtime kiss two days ago was sweet, this one brims with desire. Apparently he didn’t want to turn either of us on before returning to the office after our lunch on Monday, but tonight his lips and tongue mean business. He places his hand at the back of my neck and steps into me, trapping my face against his. Not that I mind at all.

As the kiss continues, I quickly run through the pros and cons of taking this to the next level. I like Jasper, I really do, but I’ve just had sex with Alex twice this week and I’ve never in my life had sex with two guys within the same six month period of time, let alone the same week.

But Alex is just a guy in a hook-up club, someone who I’ve never seen because he’s made me wear a blindfold both times we’ve been together. He’s almost make-believe, while Jasper is real. He’s standing right in front of me, with his mouth consuming mine. Alex stays at The Club, sleeping with who knows how many women, whereas Jasper can permeate all parts of my life. Besides, I won’t be seeing Alex much longer. I’ve already told Becca that tomorrow night is the last.

When we break away from the kiss, we are both out of breath. I smile and try to catch my bearings, with only one thing on my mind. “Do you want to come in for a drink?” I ask, giving the secret passphrase to invite him in for sex.

“Absolutely,” he says.

I make fast work of unlocking the door. As soon as it shuts behind us, he grabs me by the waist and picks up where we left off. I drop my keys and purse to the floor and fully engage my hands in the action. His dark hair is just as luscious between my fingertips as it looks from afar and I want to touch it all night.

My shirt comes off pretty easily between the heated kisses and is quickly followed by his shirt flying through the air. He is a bit taller than Alex, and as he scoops my body against his, I have to stand up on my tiptoes to get my arms around his neck. His clean-shaven chest and face are perfectly smooth against my skin, but something about it makes me miss the feel of Alex.
