(She shoves Rocambole back.)

ROCAMBOLE: Oh! you won’t escape me this time.

(He chases her around the room. Baccarat throws things at him, hides behind furniture, that Rocambole overturns as he pursues her. She screams and calls for help.)

BACCARAT: My God! Protect me. A weapon, I need a weapon.

(She knocks the chandelier over. The candles go out. The room is plunged in complete darkness.)

ROCAMBOLE: If my eyes no longer perceive you, my hate will sense you.

(He searches in the dark.)
