Azrael, Black-Line Tattoo before Divine Material Implantation

The Queen of Terra and Mistress of Manor Saffron has a duty to protect the Windborn under her care. In order to do this, she must have magic. The Trial of Acceptance is a process of tattooing raw Divine Material into the skin and creating a connection with the Divine. The practice often has a tradition of a Hallowed being sent to the Divine to get their approval before proceeding with a candidate. Divine Material is a precious commodity and should not be wasted on an individual the Divine won’t believe will survive or be compatible with their power.

Once the trial is completed, the candidate is then pronounced Queen and should be able to fully unlock her magic. Depending on her level of skill, and the skill of the Hallowed who performed the rite, she will have varying levels of magic. Queen Ceres is one of the weaker users of Light in the history of Manor Saffron, and she bemoans that fact.
