Chapter Seventeen

Prudence

Stay?

Entertaining a motorcycle club wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it would be. Sure, they were a group of rough and tumble guys, but they were also really nice and hilarious. My sides were hurting from laughing the past hour.

“The first time Monk mentioned Mitzy, I thought he was talking about a cat or something.”

Rebel choked on his beer and sputtered all over his shirt. “Jesus Christ, Pru. You can’t say something like that when I’m trying to drink.” He moved to the sink and wiped his shirt and face with a paper towel.

“What?” I laughed. “You can’t tell me that I’m not the least bit right.” I had gotten a kick out of thinking that Monk had a cat he had to take to the hospital.

“I get what you are saying, but I don’t think you should repeat that to anyone. Not even one of the guys. They would use it against you in a heartbeat, and Mitzy would know two seconds after that.” He dropped the paper towel in the garbage and leaned against the counter. “I know her name doesn’t seem like it, but Mitzy is one of the baddest bitches you will ever know.”

“I assume since she’s dating one of you guys, she has to be.” Which made me wonder why Rebel was still standing in my kitchen. Hell, I was surprised that he had called his friends to help me. I could tell that Rebel wanted me, but he could just want me for one night and then be done with me.

“I think you should be talking about Monk having huge balls for taking on Mitzy.” He shook his head. “He’s a saint for taking her on.”

“Oh, come on. She can’t be that bad.” And like I said, these women had to have some badass in them to take on a biker.

“She runs Skinz for the club, babe.”

“The strip club?”

Rebel nodded. “The one and only, babe.”

Oh, well, in that case, she was a major badass. “Yeah, I don’t even have to meet her to know she’s badass.” I sighed and folded my arms over my chest.

“Tired?” he asked.

I nodded and ran my fingers through my hair. “Long day. Spent my day dealing with high schoolers and then my night with your biker friends. I’m getting too old for this.”

Rebel shook his head. “You can’t be tired yet, babe. Remember we need to have a talk about your teacher voice.”

I rolled my eyes. “I do not have a teacher voice.”

He pointed at me and smiled wide. “You just did it.”

“I talked,” I growled.

“Oh, and now there is pissed off teacher voice.” He rubbed his hands together.

I threw my hands in the air. “I am literally just talking, Rebel.”

He pushed off the counter and stalked toward me. “Maybe I just like when you talk, then.”

I backed up a step and bumped into the kitchen table.

“Easy, babe,” he whispered. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me flush against him. “I don’t want you to hurt yourself.
