Seven o’clock was always a sacred time in our house. Even now when I phone home, I check the time to make sure I’m not interrupting my mum listening to The Archers. She is an Archers addict. In fact, she is an Archers Addict, she subscribes to the newsletter. Whenever I have listened and there is a scene with two people on the farm, I’ve found it impossible not to imagine the two actors standing with their wellies on in the middle of a muddy field. If two characters were lying in bed, about to go to sleep, I would be convinced the two actors would be doing exactly the same, wearing pyjamas, an alarm clock on their bedside table, a glass of water in case they are thirsty during the night.

In today’s episode, Ruth and David go on a shopping spree. I’m not sure what has gone on between them. Ruth says she is glad to be ‘me again’. Why is David treating her? What has happened? Why is he taking her to the seafood place in Darrington and asked Heather to look after the kids?
